Maybe, to help relieve the peacekeepers' loneliness, you could give them access to Canadian television and radio. There are also other methods of communicaiton, like internet access, e-mail, video and teleconferencing. A communications satellite that could carry Canadian television and radio signals could be dedicated to servicing the remote area in which the peacekeepers are, since using normal telephone wires, cable connections, and the like, would be impossible.
To help send orders back and forth from the peacekeepers' base stations and the troops in the field, a satellite dedicated to mobile communications would be helpful. An example of just such a satellite is MSat. Would the peacekeepers need a special type of transmitter? Would an ordinary radio work? How about servicing those who are in areas blocked by mountains, or even underwater?
