Jupiter

This image shows an area of Jupiter's equator. It was taken on Nov. 5, 1996, at a range of 1.2 million kilometers by NASA's Galileo space probe, which was launched in October 1989 to study Jupiter. The camera that Galileo used to take this image is called a Solid-State Imaging (SSI) instrument.
