This image shows NASA's Ulysses space probe on a pass over the poles of the Sun. In its passes over the polar regions of the Sun in 1994 and 1995, Ulysses revealed the existence of fast solar winds coming from the poles. Ulysses will return to the Sun in the year 2000 after making a slingshot around Jupiter.
