[Engineer Susan]Engineers designing satellites need to design the subsystems that keep a satellite running, no matter what its mission is. Therefore, every satellite must have the same seven subsystems that keep the satellite operating.

There is information on this site about these subsystems, so you can follow the links below to decide how each of your satellite's subsystems is going to work. You should follow the links in order, but you may need to return to a section later if you make changes.

Keep in mind your satellite's function. Will what it's doing in space affect how it needs to operate?

Remember, record all of your subsystem designs in your notebook!

Here are the seven satellite subsystems:

  1. orbit
  2. attitude control
  3. bus (body)
  4. communications
  5. power source
  6. internal computer
  7. grapple fixture

Once you've designed all seven of your satellite's subsystems, and recorded your decisions in your notebook, click continue.
